The acb Galeria on Kiraly Utca, Budapest takes a bit of finding. But it is worth the effort. The main gallery had an installation by Katarina Šević & Tehnica Schweiz entitled Alfred Palestra. It's a beautifully crafted installation. A description is on the gallery website: acbgaleria The painting that caught my eye was installed at a second space around the corner. Titled Operation Hungary, it's at first glance a painting of a military strategy plan of attack, with Budapest the target. A closer reading of the legend (surprisingly in english) shows the plan to be a humorous art career strategy. The artist, Mladen Miljanović's writes: ”Operation Hungary is possible modus operandi of a Bosnian Serb artist who gains exhibition and occupyies cultural systems of attacked areas. This work consists of a multi-media strategy used in simulating Art attacks with virtual invasion in an institutional gallery. My military education experience (infantry sergeant) is turned/applied in the field of culture where artistic projects are at the same time aware of strategic projects".
